Course Description: Students will be involved in a Physical Education curriculum that requires courses in fitness, and a variety of individual and team sports, and life long sports and activities.
Course Objectives: Physical education today is a vital part of any school curriculum. Regular physical activity is necessary to sustain fitness and health. At the conclusion of the school year, students will:
-Develop lifelong understanding and good habits for overall health and fitness through regular activity.
-Demonstrate the ability to use basic skills, strategies, and rules in many movement forms.
-Perform team-building skills (communication, decision-making, cooperation and leadership) through physical activity with others.
-Demonstrate responsible personal and social behaviors in physical activity settings.
-Demonstrate an understanding and respect for difference among people in physical activity settings.

-Memorial P.E. Uniform: Can be purchased at Lansing Sport Shop (Ridge Rd.) or Bessies (Torrence Ave.)

-Dress in the proper P.E. uniform daily.
-Participate in the class activity to the best of your ability every day.
-Demonstrate proper behavior in the locker room before and after class. Students will be held responsible for damaged PE equipment including locker room facilities.
-Demonstrate proper behavior + sportsmanship towards teachers and classmates.
-You may not wear your PE clothes over your regular clothes.

Participation is the most important aspect of Physical Education, Whether it is in
the gym or the classroom. Students are expected to be in class, dress, and
participate everyday. Participating to the best of your ability is the key to your success in class.
Grading Scale Grading Policy
A 90-100 Grades are based on participation, coooperation,
B 80-89 effort, and general understanding of rules and
C 70-79 skills involved in each activity, being prepared for
d 60-69 class, written assignments and tests. We follow the
F 59-BELOW scale outlined in the student handbook. Failure to dress
and participate on a daily basis will lower your grade
significantly.
No Dress Policy: (grading period per quarter)
-Students are expected to dress in their full Pe uniform every class period. points will be taken off for each item of clothing they are not wearing.
-Students start with 10 points each day.
*No shirt/shorts= At most 5 total points for the day
*No shirt and no shorts= At most 2 total points for the day
Extra Credit
*If a student wishes to get extra credit to make up for missed days or days that they did not dress they have this option (up to teachers' discretion):
-Go to Kidshealth.org and click on the teen website. students should then pick a link on the left hand side that they would like to read an article from. after reading the article students should then write a summary of the article and what knowledge they gained from the article
